1. Free forging

Free forging generally refers to the use of simple tools, such as hammer, anvil, anvil, fell, punch, pad iron, etc., on the ingot or bar upsetting, drawing, bending, punching, reaming and other ways to produce parts blank. It is characterized by large machining allowance and low production efficiency. The mechanical properties and surface quality of forgings are greatly affected by production workers, so it is difficult to guarantee the dimensional accuracy and internal quality. This forging method is only suitable for single piece or very small batch or large forging production; However, blank forging is sometimes used in die forging as well.

Air hammer, steam - air hammer or forging hydraulic press are selected according to the quality of forging parts.

Free forging can also be done with the aid of a simple die. Also known as tire die forging, it is more efficient than manual operation and the forming effect is greatly improved.

2, die forging,

Die forging refers to putting the blank into the upper and lower modules (processed according to the shape and size of parts), forming it into forgings by the impact or pressure from the hammer head, the slide block of the press machine or the movable beam of the hydraulic press machine. The upper and lower modules of the forging die are respectively fixed on the hammer head and the base. Die forging allowance is small, only a small amount of mechanical processing (some even not processing). Die forging has high production efficiency, uniform internal organization, small performance change from piece to piece, shape and size is mainly guaranteed by the mold, less affected by the operator. Die forgings, which require the aid of a mould, increase investment and are therefore not suitable for single and small batch production. Die forging also often requires the configuration of free forging or roll forging equipment billet, especially the crank press and hydraulic machine die forging.

Die forging commonly used equipment is mainly die forging hammer, crank press, friction press, electric (or hydraulic) screw hammer, die forging hydraulic machine.

3. Special forging

Some parts with special equipment can greatly improve productivity, forging requirements (such as size, shape, performance, etc.) can also be a good guarantee. For example, the use of screws, upset machine and twist machine, production efficiency multiplied. It can save the equipment tonnage to produce disk or cup parts by oscillating rolling. Rotary forging is used to produce bars with high surface quality, high production efficiency and convenient operation. Special forging has certain limitations, special forging machinery can only produce a certain type of products, so it is only suitable for the production of large quantities of a single variety of spare parts.
